There will be a memorial ride for Malik Habib on Tuesday 7/31 at 5:30. The meeting point is 1st and K St NE. Malik was killed by a charter bus five weeks ago when his bike tire got caught in the H Street streetcar track. Malik was just 19 years old and on his way home with his brother Cyrus from their job delivering food by bike.
As part of the ride we are calling for DDOT to install rubber inserts on the streetcar track and implement traffic calming and speed enforcement on H Street. DDOT’s response to Malik’s death so far has been to point people to a safety video online.
