Yeah the reason I linked Rep Beyer is because I figured as an Arlington-centric forum, most users were probably in Virginia 8. I included a link in the original comment (at least tried to, haven’t quite figured out the forum) so that people could check whether they were in Virginia 8.

And also, the reason to contact him would be that I figure he’d probably be more responsive than NPS, given that he’s a freshman member of the House and NPS seems to not check their email/twitter/facebook.

That crossing on the north side of Memorial Circle is awful. I’ve been around for a number of accidents on the south side, but that crossing on the north scares me like none of the southern crossings do. Three lanes of 45 mph traffic barreling around a curve is not a good recipe for a crossing especially in the dark heading west. Plus, there are the 2 additional lights and 2 crossings without a light that one has to sit through near Lincoln Memorial.

Counting down the days for the south side sidewalk to reopen. They said closed through 11/23, I believe. Didn’t see anything about this on WABA’s page.

North side of the bridge definitely sucks. so hard to get to without getting run over by a car.

Yeah, wish I had paid attention to this thread before riding down there for HP Hammerfest this AM. Riding in the street there was sketchier than ideal. And getting to the north side of the road to go home was even worse.

I believe the south side is already supposed to be done. Can anyone confirm?

This morning I saw some people on bikes riding over the (previously closed) south side sidewalks, but I wasn’t able to tell if they were able to go the whole way on the sidewalk or not.

Rode over the south side this morning — it’s clear all the way across. A little narrow at the west end but not too bad. The chips in the sidewalk are mostly cemented over, but some still remain. The two wooden “bridges” are still in place. Nice morning for a ride (I can’t feel my face).

And next Monday, they plan to close the north side for “approximately 2 weeks”.
