Street Smart campaign around Clarendon Metro today between 7 and 9 AM. Police will be ticketing drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians for violations, so be in your best behavior.

I would love to see a breakdown on how many citations were issued, and for what.

There will be a fundraising walk on the Capitol Crescent Trail today between 5:30 and 8 p.m., from downtown Bethesda to River Road. Large numbers of walkers are expected.

Apparently Bike to Work Week is celebrated in Chicago by blocking the bike lanes.

Thanks for the photo. I rode by this on my way to the Crystal City B2WW and didn’t have my camera with me. What’ even worse is that I think these were from the Police Unity Tour cycling event.

Well, in Chicago BTWW is in June, so maybe they just didn’t know when we celebrate it.

For next year, the County should more aggressively engage the organizers about their plans for (legally) parking all the police vehicles.

4mr from the mvt to rte 1 is bound to be a mess tomorrow. Some standing water this afternoon around 4 most notably at the 90° turn with some debris that shouldn’t have surprised me as much as it did. Be careful.

I was shocked by 4MR’s non-flooded state this morning! Still some debris at the big connector to MVT.

This morning’s low tide was at 11:40 am, high tide at 5:02 am; last rain on Monday was around 2 pm, lots of time to drain 4MR below the level of the trails..

Does anyone know if the crane work is still blocking the Rock Creek connection between the Lincoln Memorial and Water St in Georgetown?

I rode on the W&OD trail today. They are repaving west of Ashburn. The horse path was so bad I gave up. Does anyone know how far it is being repaved (probably to the place they repaved a year or so ago) and when it will reopen?

Beginning on or around May 13 the section of trail from Cochran Mill Road to Ashburn Road will be repaved (mile marker 30.5 to 27.5 approximately). Whenever possible trail users will be detoured onto the horse trail. The park staff have cleared back the vegetation and the contractor will regrade the horse trail. The work is expected to take about one week to complete. Please use caution in this area and observe construction signs in the work zone.

Thanks greatly. I should have looked at that website.

IMHO, the detour to the horse trail was far from good. It was full of deep ruts, mud, and piles of horse poop. :D In other places, I have been able to use it.

They have essentially finished repaving between Ashburn Road and Cochran Mill Road. The center line probably won’t be added for several months as happened in the section directly west of this.
