Four Mile Run (the stream) overflowing it’s banks, covered half the Four Mile Run Trail just west of the MVT intersection, at 8AM this morning.

While it’s not “officially” open, the new Talbot Ave Bridge over the future Purple Line and CSX tracks is bikeable. Barriers are easily avoided. The streets on the west side are completely open to provide access to homes.

    This has to go somewhere…

Don’t know how “official” this is, the W&OD Trail at the Sparrow Pond repair project…is open again. Outfall chute filled over, freshly paved (love that new asphalt smell), and back in service.

    These geese are early adopters.

However, the Park St access at the W&OD Sparrow Pond project site is now closed for rebuilding

I don’t see an option to start a new month topic, so I’ll use March.  There is a significant sand berm over the complete width of the 4MRT at the crossing before the stairs to Phoenix Bikes (west of Columbia Pike).

March Road and Trail Conditions – Night Riding Visibility 🌙🚴‍♂️

    Hi everyone,

With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, I’ve been getting more rides in after dusk. As we transition into March, I wanted to share a quick tip about night riding—especially when road visibility can sometimes be a challenge.

I’ve noticed that some trails and roads in Arlington can be a bit dimly lit in certain spots, and that’s where a good bike light becomes crucial. I’ve been using Gaciron bike lights, and they’ve been fantastic at providing bright, clear illumination, which is essential for riding safely in low-light conditions. Whether you’re cruising along dark trails or cycling on roads without streetlights, having a powerful front light and rear light makes all the difference. You can check them out here: https://www.gaciron-shop.com/

Another thing I always recommend is wearing reflective gear—things like vests, jackets, or even ankle bands make a big difference in making you more visible to drivers.

Anyone else been out riding after dark lately? How do you manage visibility and road hazards when cycling in the evening or night?

Stay safe out there and happy riding! 🚴‍♀️✨
