ParticipantMost of the cycletracks and trails in DC, sun-exposed, are in pretty good shape.

14th St. Bridge, not so much – and even so, it would dead-end into the unplowed Mt. Vernon Trail…

ParticipantI’m looking to bike to work tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knows the condition of MVT. Has the snow melted between 4MR and the 14th street bridge?

Also curious, but im guessing the shady spots will need another day or two of 55. I will probably go my roads route unless someone says otherwise for the mvt.

ParticipantI was on the GW Parkway this afternoon and noticed the MVT south of Belle Haven looked pretty nasty still. Quite a few cyclist were walking sections.

ParticipantThe towpath is very squishy.

ParticipantMVT from Crystal City connector to Gravelly Point parking lot is 99.9% clear. A little snow on the CC connector, but there is clear pavement in both directions. Might require a little caution if there is 2-way bike traffic, but it should be fine tomorrow.
I didn’t go north of Gravelly Point. I’m guessing that it will be clear up to the 14th St. Bridge.
Last week, there were some icy spots at the bridge. I would be prepared for at least some remaining ice/snow/slush next to the bridge, but I didn’t ride up there today.

ParticipantI rode the MVT from Four Mile Run to the Crystal City Connector and it was clear (grass to grass) about 99% of the way. The rest was slush with a clean line. A few puddles were on the trail.
I’m riding the road bike tomorrow.

ParticipantI rode the MVT from Jones Point Park to Crystal City late this morning, while there are sections that are clear, there are still some sections that are ice covered and not easily ridden – Jones Point Park in the Shade of the Wilson Bridge, the area northbound from the abandoned power plant to the merge with the alternate MVT trail, and the boardwalk over the wetlands before the Washington Sailing Marina. In these areas I walked my bike.

ParticipantHere are some pictures of the W&OD between Gallows and Park. Slushy now, but if there is a refreeze, IROD tomorrow.

ParticipantAnyone have a report on conditions of the MVT between roosevelt island and the 14th street bridge?

ParticipantI haven’t read a lot of reports about the Custis itself which I’m guessing is because Arlington County does such a great job that everyone knows it’s plowed and fine (or…I just missed it). Waiting on report (asked in thread above) for MVT but I’ll add my question as to the condition of the Roosevelt Bridge since that’s my standard route.
I drove along Shreve around 2pm today and west of the tennis courts it looks pretty good, even going up Virginia Lane. Tennis courts still looked like ice.
If Roosevelt is passable on slicks then I may drive to WFC metro tomorrow and take Park to Maple to Columbia and hop on there at Banneker Park.

The boardwalk over the wetlands by the Washington Sailing Marina was completely clear, with just a few wet planks, when I rode through around 6:00 pm today. I can’t vouch for Jones Point Park or the power plant bridges, though.

Participant@ Tania,
The Custis is all completely rideable. Rode the entire thing from Quincy to the WOD, and then later rode the Custis from IoD to Quincy and it is all fine. There was a lot of snow melt/water on the trail, so some caution if you are riding early tomorrow, but you will be fine on a road bike on the Custis. Thank you Arlington.
