Starting this month, there is going to be a very long water main project along most of Williamsburg Blvd. There will be some disruptions to various sections of the bike lanes at different times. See below:
Per contractors construction schedule, below is tentative duration during which the bike lanes will be impacted.
1. Sta. 0+00 to Sta. 1+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between 35th Street North and 34th Road North – Northbound lane) – Oct 10th 2012 to Oct 26th 2012.
2. Sta. 1+00 to 2+50 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between 34th Rd. N and 34th St. N – Southbound lane) – Oct 26th 2012 to Nov.16th 2012
3. Sta. 2+50 to 10+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between 34th St. N and Old Dominion Dr. – Southbound lane) – Nov 19th 2012 to Jan 31st 2012
4. Sta. 10+00 to 17+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between Old Dominion Dr. and N. George Mason Dr. – Southbound lane) – Feb 1st 2013 to Feb 27th 2013
5. Sta. 17+00 to 21+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. George Mason Dr. and N. Edison St. –Northbound lane) – Feb 28th 2013 to Apr 17th 2013
6. Sta. 21+00 to 29+00 ( Williamsburg Blvd.- Between N. Edison St. and N. Fredrick St. – Northbound Lane) – Apr 18th 2013 to Jun 24th 2013
7. Sta. 29+00 to 33+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. Fredrick St. and N. Harrison St. –Southbound lane) – Jun 25th 2013 to Jul 19th 2013
8. Sta. 33+00 to 44+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. Harrison St. and N. Kensington St. –Southbound lane) – Jul 22nd 2013 to Sep 27th 2013
9. Sta. 44+00 to 49+00 ( Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. Kensington St. and N. John Marshall Dr. –Northbound lane) – Sep 30th 2013 to Oct 16th 2013.
10. Sta. 49+00 to 53+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. John Marshall Dr. and N. Nottingham St. –Northbound lane) – Oct 17th 2013 to Nov 12th 2013.
11. Sta. 53+00 to 57+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. Nottingham St. and N. Ohio St. – Northbound lane) – Nov 13th 2013 to Nov 27th 2013
12. Sta. 57+00 to 63+00 (Williamsburg Blvd. – Between N. Ohio St. and N. Potomac St. – Northbound lane) – Dec 2nd 2013 to Jan 17th 2014If you have any questions or complaints, they can be directed to Raymond Wiley (Rwiley@arlingtonva.us) who is the project’s construction manager.
Just to add to this, westbound PM commuters on this stretch have the sun right in their eyes, which is exacerbated by the hills, so be extra careful when navigating this area!

ParticipantFor the non-construction types, a station in surveying and construction is 100 feet and the value behind the plus sign is in feet. Station 2+50 would be 250 feet from the point where the process started.
I suppose it allows guys like me (with crappy memories) to only have to remember a couple of two digit numbers.
