ParticipantHmmm, never realized how tall Tim was until I stood next him — oh, and that awkward high-five when I was forced to jump in the air….
Had so much fun — thanks.
My shoes may never dry out.

ParticipantIt was really fun riding home with Liz and Ann and Tim.
Where are we distributing lights next?
Thanks y’all! Thanks Bike Arlington. Chris, Zanna and Tim rock!

ParticipantYou GUYS! You don’t need to thank us! We are SO thankful to have so many dedicated volunteers who are not only willing to stand in the cold rain for 2 hours, but who are also committed to keeping the Arlington community safe.
You guys said it all – despite the weather, it was a successful night and not only are more runners, walkers, families and bikers visible at night, one tiny little Chihuahua will be shining his heart out!
Thanks again for everyone’s help! We couldn’t have done it without you!!!!

ParticipantHey, it was better than the evening we were standing in the subfreezing weather at that corner last year!

ParticipantIt was so much fun to meet everyone and give out free stuff! I was amazed at how receptive our audience was. Harkening back to an earlier thread, one woman told me she was hit by a car while on foot on Columbia Pike, and when she got to the hospital, the physician said, “So, you hit a car?” Hopefully we are helping a few pedestrians stay safe.
I have my supply of lights in my trunk bag and will report back when I convert my first ninja, or ninja chihuahua.
I agree with Pete, nice to ride home with him, Ann and Tim.
Liz
P.S. Ann, I think a lot of those guys last night were tall! I usually don’t feel so short in a group that size.

ParticipantYou are kind, and I am not. The phrase that comes to mind is freakishly tall.
And that was said with the utmost respect.

I celebrate Thanksgiving every day. There are thousands of examples of counties and millions of examples of individuals who do not make the effort to improve the situation for those who ride through their community. Bike Arlington as a group, and you three as individuals make a big difference. That makes me happy.

You and Liz and most others are human-sized. Tim and I are the opposite of that.
Tim will someday understand the disadvantage that being as tall as he and I are in the world of cycling. Until then, just point and laugh.

ParticipantThere is a reason I mostly participate in triathlon…draft legal races don’t work to my advantage!

You probably need to lose about 30 pounds to be a competitive climber too. Not to say you couldn’t kick my butt on every climb… Just saying that when I lived in a region that had real climbs in their bike races, my race weight was in the low 160s…. and I was still at a huge disadvantage to the humans against which I raced.
The list goes on. You take more to feed and hydrate than a human.
The light give-away was awesome. Can’t wait to do more.
I’ll go get some more ninjas if we have a nice day next week.
Rock on!

ParticipantI lit up my first ninja tonight! He was entering the Custis Trail right near Ballston; he was in street clothes and may have been coming from the metro. He seemed surprised that I couldn’t see him in his jeans and dark leather jacket. He happily accepted the Bike Arlington light and affixed it to his umbrella handle.

ParticipantCongratulations on accosting an unsuspecting ninja! By my count you have one ninja “kill,” rock on! Perhaps you can put a sticker on your bike.

Hang on, let this work through my mind a moment. Does this mean that Tim leaves a giant carbon footprint because he consumes more resources than say, a petite woman who eats and drinks much less? heh. heh. heh.

Rock on!

ParticipantNegative. I rarely drive to bike events. You and Blacknell are in your own special club together.
