Frog lights! I love them! I will be riding the trails as an out of town visitor next MON thru next THURS—I’ll be staying in Bethesda, NEAR the main bike trail. I’d like to get some more frog lights in case I am out after dark! (I have one) Any suggestions of a store near this area? –Samantha M

http://www.freshbikescycling.com/ has a location two blocks from the Bethesda metro, and about five blocks from the Capital Crescent Trail, that will take you down to Georgetown.

I would be *very* willing to lend as many bungee cords as necessary to secure the table to Tim’s back.

So does this mean we can count you in?

(will you be providing the bungee cords for strapping the table to Tim’s back??)

and by “providing the bungee cords” I meant, providing the elbow grease to physically wrap the bungee cords around the table and onto Tim’s back.

Sorry I was away from the forum for a few days. I was trying to wedge in a full day’s worth of work and lovely experiences with the American health care system into the span of a normal day. I also got rescue kittens to their new home. That pretty much cut out a lot of my normal on-line presence.

I’m there to move the table and anything else you need. See you at the Bike Arlington Intergalactic Headquarters at the appointed time. I’ve got all the cargo stuff to carry the table with no problems at all. It might actually help to let me carry a box or two in order to balance out the load. I’m pretty good at riding while unbalanced after years of doing so. :D

See y’all out there. Lets hope the weather is as good on MOnday as we had for the last give-away.

Just a reminder that tonight is our Lights for Bikes Giveaway! We’ll be at the W&OD/Columbia Pike crossing between 5pm and 630pm. We’ll be setting up around 445.

Thanks again to those of you who have agreed to help out! Let’s hope it doesn’t rain!

    See you out there :o)

My racquetball game got moved to tonight so I’ll be there instead, but I’ll wear a blinky while I’m playing.

That’s the spirit! Thanks for letting us know, we should have plenty of volunteers.

I’ll be there too and will stay to help unless you have way too many volunteers.

It looks pretty dismal out there right now, but mostly fog/mist, not rain. Radar looks promising for no more than drizzle.

Thanks for the lights! I don’t envy you all for staying out there in the cold and rain.

What a wonderful evening! I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun standing on a street corner in the dark soliciting strangers.

Many, many lights were pressed into people’s hands who were dressed in black, did not have any idea they weren’t visible, and/or never considered how to light themselves up to be safe in a way that did not involve combustible materials and a match.

It was a very successful night, we gave away what seemed like several hundred lights and reflective straps. More importantly we were able to interact with the pedestrian and cycling community in a friendly way, shake hands, look into each other’s eyes and say, “Hello, can I give you a light?”

(FWIW, riding in the dark and the rain is a blast.)

A successful distribution effort! Thanks to the staff of Bike Arlington and the riders who participated. The number of walkers and ninja bikers illuminated was good. Parents getting lights for their kids, walking commuters wearing dark clothing and bike commuters without lights.

The prize of the evening was the illumination of a Chihuahua.

All in all, a fun evening that made a bunch of our neighbors safer.
