Thanks to everyone who helped out at our Lights for Bikes Giveaway, to those who stopped by to say hi, and to everyone else who makes sure that they’re visible at night!! We had a successful night…we gave away around 1,000 lights!! We had a lot of fun, and I especially liked the creative ways you guys came up with to wear the lights (i.e. on the shoes for joggers and also on the helmet).

We’ll be doing another giveaway next Monday, the 21st at the W&OD and 4 Mile Run trail intersection at Columbia Pike. We don’t expect as many people as we saw last week, but help is greatly appreciated. We’ll be setting up at around 4:30 and closing up shop around 6:30. So if anyone can lend a hand that would be great!

Also, Dirt we may need some assistance in hauling a folding table…we all know your cargo bike can work some wonders, would you be able to help us out with this?

    Thanks!!!

I’ll try and be there, but don’t know if I can leave work early enough to be of much assistance.

I’ll be there. I like things that light up and run on batteries.

I think I might be able to help with this one, we’ll see what time I get done around here.

Frog lights! I love them! I will be riding the trails as an out of town visitor next MON thru next THURS—I’ll be staying in Bethesda, NEAR the main bike trail. I’d like to get some more frog lights in case I am out after dark! (I have one) Any suggestions of a store near this area? –Samantha M

I can help if you need more bodies. I can help if you don’t need more bodies. Let me know.

I think Dirt does enough work. I would be *very* willing to lend as many bungee cords as necessary to secure the table to Tim’s back.

(Barring that, I know the Arlington County Central Library has a trike that no one, to my knowledge, ever uses. It *might* be able to do the job.)

Last night on the MVT I saw a woman pushing a jogging stroller that appeared to have some of Bike Arlington’s frog lights attached to the handlebars. Yeah!

    I’ll be there to help!

I know it’d be preferable to get the table and stuff down there by bike, but if necessary, I’d be more than happy to help move stuff by car…I have plenty of room for a table or two and a couple of bikes…

Hello — I will be there. This will give me a chance to bike somewhere I have never been — a new adventure! If anyone has tips for biking there from the 18th & L area, besides what Google maps recommends, that would be great.

I wish I could go to this. But ironically I do not have sufficient lighting to get there and back in the dark…. I’m working on that though and I think it will give Dirt some competition.

    I’m coming from 18th and M.

Two basic options: 1) Head south and cross the 14th street bridge. Go south on MVT, West on Four Mile Run, and up the W&OD from Shirlington.
    2) Take M through Georgetown and over Key bridge (or cut down New Hampshire over Roosevelt Bridge), west on Custis Trail (perhaps Wilson/Fairfax) to Quincy. South on Quincy/Henderson. Cross 50, (consulting the Arlington Bike map) go on Abingdon, 3rd St, Wakefield. Right on Columbia Pike to the Pizza Hut.

That’s probably because we pushed our lights on pretty much everyone who crossed our path….we suited up a few jogging strollers actually. Glad to hear they’re getting some good use!!
