ParticipantZanna,
Count me in. I’ll be glad to help out there, and elsewhere afterwards.

We’ll also have reflective pant straps – so we can push them on any joggers who come our way to reduce the number of ninjas on the trails
I support your anti-ninja platform and efforts.

ParticipantWhere do these things loop on for the walkie walkers, runners, and other bipedal non-pedalers?

They are bike lights first and foremost, but I have a pair on my jogging stroller and I have been able to attach them to the strap of my running visor as well.
We’ll also be giving out reflective velcro straps to anyone who passes. Hope you can make it!

Yup–please stop by! Always good to have a pair of backup lights, just in case…

ParticipantWould love to help, but am out of town. Can I get a bunch of these to pass out while I ride? I’ve given away the ones I got from the fair.

ParticipantThis may have been thought of already….but what about conducting such a program focusing on street bikers? The trails provide a useful concentration of bikes, yes. But we do see many on-street bikes that *really* need lighting, and a good number of these riders don’t usually go on trails.
You would have to spend more time at a given location to see a good number of bikes, but with the number of potential crazies, er , volunteers coming from our ranks, it would be cool to see if we could make some sort of impact. Or am I just overly optimistic?

Participant@StopMeansStop – We’ll be finalizing an “ambassador” program this winter so that those who are interested can do just that!
@JustinW – We’re also going to be hitting the Columbia Pike/W&OD crossing later this month to hit riders on Columbia Pike (its sidewalk), and the trail. We’re also working with the Shirlington Employment and Education Center to provide day laborers and sidewalk/street riders with lights and safety information.October 28, 2011 at 2:03 pm #931630americancyclo
Participant@Tim Kelly- Is there any outreach coordination with local running groups or running stores?
Pacers, G’town Running, Potomac River, and Road Runner seem like good candidates.

We aren’t working with any running stores, but we are working with local bike shops, outdoor stores and hardware stores to provide discounts on lights.

ParticipantThat’s my first day back, so I doubt I could get there by 4:30, but it’s on my way home so I’ll stop by.
