Maybe something similar, like “Life is better on two wheels.”

I don’t know if my attitude is souring, but it can be frustrating not to ride. I’ve only ridden a couple times over the past 3 months because of quad muscle strains in both legs. (The problem likely started during a run hill sprint workout over the summer, when I didn’t do a sufficient warm-up. I may also have done reps that were too long, and/or I may have increased the workout intensity too quickly that month.)

I also swim and although I could still swim (especially with a pull buoy) this fall, I haven’t even done much of that either since September. Same thing with running. Maybe 20 minutes total over the last 2.5 months. The lack of activity definitely makes me feel a bit sluggish. But I want to get 100 percent healthy before I start up again with regular sessions.

Maybe the quads are getting better. I did the scavenger bike ride on Saturday. I cut it short and only rode about 5 miles total. Half of that was uphill, from Georgetown to U Street. Two days later and my quads seem to be OK for now. (Normally that ride would not be a problem, but almost any riding has created issues for me this fall. I bike-commuted once, only about 5 miles with only modest climbing, and my legs felt strange for half a week. I rode a CaBi bike that day, so maybe the extra bike weight had something to do with it.) In September, when the problem was at its worst, I was hobbling through Metro stations because I had a lot of difficult with just walking. I could barely walk down escalators and stairs on some days, because of the quad problems. At least it’s not nearly that bad now.

The best I’ve got is “Two-wheel attitude adjustment.”

    That’s a good one.

Based on a t-shirt I’ve seen, may I suggest “Life is/looks better (from) behind bars.” Or perhaps something along the lines of “Cranky without my cranking.” Or, depending on your pedal persuasion, “Life is better when you’re clipped in.”

Life is a breeze on a bike.
