    Gina that is a silly question — Bikenetic Full Service Bike Shop is easy to get to from the East Falls Church metro (as you know) and they DEFINITELY know their mountain bikes!

    East Falls Church metro is < 1 mile walk to Bikenetic. :)

    The owners and staff there are all active, experienced mountain bikers, and they stock a number of respected MTB brands.

    Yeah, Bikenetic is the obvious answer. Even if he lived in Annapolis! :-)

    Edit: your friend is probably aware, but mountain biking around here kinda wants a car. Maybe a combination of metro/bus/ride would work …
