    The was one of those along the Reflecting Pool going last week during the really cold days too. I assumed it was intentional to keep the pipes from bursting.

    If installed correctly they are freeze proof.

    I wonder if this one has the drain hole at all or set up correctly. Of course the freeze line at LBJ is pretty close to the surface.

    Yes. Pipes should have been installed below the frost line (30 or 36 inches around here…don’t remember exactly off the top of my head, it’s been a while since I ran a water line).

    I may start turning it off then. Based on the muddy stream, this has been running a lot for a long time.

    That’s one of those hard to check after the fact things :).

    could also just be kids making a mess. I say turn it off.
