    Executive Summary:

Yes, you can still register. If you do, you are not guaranteed a place on a team. However, the earlier you register (assuming you complete all the steps at this link), the better your chances are. If you have problems registering, they can pretty much all be worked out if you send me a private message.

I didn’t know when the deadline was.

God knows we tried! It is the same deadline that has applied for at least the last seven years. It was on the sticky post at the top of this forum. It was on the instructions for registering. It was on the registration form until the exact minute the deadline passed, and even had a little countdown timer. Not having access to Trump’s Truth Social feed, I’m not sure what else we can do.

Next year, please check this forum around Thanksgiving to determine the deadline. For this year, please register now, and we’ll do our best to get you in. You can get instructions for registering at this link.

I registered, but I never confirmed my e-mail address.

After you registered, you should have received an e-mail asking you to click on a link to confirm your e-mail address. (This may have gone to your “Social,” “Promotions,” junk mail, or spam folder.) If you didn’t get it or have thrown it out, you’ll need to send me a private message to get this straightened out.

I registered, but never posted on this forum.

Step 1 is to post on this forum. (Duh!) If you have troubles posting, send a PM to Henry, and he can straighten it out. Then send a private message to CBGanimal to say that you posted.

If I register now, can I play?

It depends. We use late registrations for the following purposes:

    1. To even out teams. If the number of people who registered can’t be divided up into teams with the same number of people on each team, CBGanimal will add as many late registrants as necessary to even up the teams.
    2. To make up for people who register but don’t show up. Yeah, there are always a few who go through the whole registration process, then don’t check in January to see what team they are assigned to and join that team’s Strava club. So we need people to replace them.
    3. To replace people who get injured. Much as we encourage people to stay safe, there are always a few who don’t.

So if you register shortly after the deadline, your chances are excellent of ending up on a team. If you delay, your chances get progressively worse.

I think I registered, but I’m not sure, or I’m not sure I completed all the steps.

You can check some of the steps yourself

    • Does your name appear on this list? If not, either you didn’t join the Freezing Saddles 2023 Strava club, or you didn’t authorize Freezing Saddles to read your Strava miles. Please go back and do those things.
    • Have you ever made at least one post on this forum? (If you did it in a prior year, you don’t need to do it again this year; we just need you to have made one post ever.) If you didn’t, and can’t think of anything to say, you can just respond to this thread.
    • Did you confirm your e-mail? After you registered, you should have received two e-mails. One set forth the information on your registration form. The second asked you to click on a link to confirm your e-mail. If you don’t see that second e-mail, please check your spam folder and any other folders your e-mail provider may have. (In Gmail, for example, there are also Social and Promotions folders.) If you find it, please click on it. If you don’t find it, you can send me a message on the forum, and I can confirm you manually.

If you don’t remember whether you submitted the registration form at all, or have other questions regarding your registration, you can send me a private message. I can check, and most likely fix any problems.

I have questions not answered by the above.

If you send me a private message, I can probably answer them.

Well, the first year I played, Subby went and rode a century immediately after breaking his clavicle. But I don’t necessarily recommend that.

As of this moment, all the team assignments have been made based on confirmed registrations. There are 19 teams with 10 members each. If you late register, you will be wait listed as a substitute for any riders who drop out. More details to follow at and shortly after the HH on January 10th. Be there … aloha!
