ParticipantYep, great event & people (even if I was a little slower on the uptake than I’d liked to have been).
Admins, I believe we have a new user title. Please update ACC to “Rhinestone Cowgirl.” Thanks.

ParticipantAmen to that, Ann and Mark. That was a great way to spend a Sunday. I wish I could make it to some of their potluck events. Thursdays are just 9 kinds of bad for me. It was great to meet Greenbelt there too.
I was inspired enough by the cargo event that I used my Big Dummy for its intended purpose:
Beer transport. On board: 2 cases of beer (3 12-packs and 2 sixers), 1 laptop, 2 iPads, clothes, tools and 15 pounds of cat food.

ParticipantMore pictures from Dirt’s amazing bike photography: http://www.flickr.com/photos/proteus-bicycles/galleries/72157628015216812/
My next cargo quest will be to try to do all my Christmas/holiday shopping by bike. I’m thinking Eastern Market craft vendors, the Gallery Place holiday market etc.

ParticipantThe thing I miss from driving is my car stereo. I used to LOVE the sound of a really well designed and built audio system. My next project will be a cargo bike entertainment system.

ParticipantI saw Dirt heading west on the WO&D late Sunday afternoon in the Falls Church area on the “Honk if You’re Horny” bike; presumably heading home from the Proteus event. If I’d realized he was carrying beer, I would have blocked his path and demanded a bottle.

The only downside to the whole adventure is the realization that the rhinestones I glued to my helmet for the event are apparently permanent. I can’t pry them off.

PS- Proteus has a weekly Potluck dinner on Thursdays from 7-9 pm (301.441.2928 for more information)
Ann,
You must post a photo of your new helmet! What a hoot. I think you should continue riding with it; would make you very easy to spot on the trails.
Proteus sounds like a great shop; wish they were in VA. The potluck dinner is a great idea.

ParticipantOh dear God no. That is certainly not how I want to be remembered, but I’m stuck with it for awhile and yes, I’m very easy to spot on the trail/roads now – a mixed blessing.
Mr. Blacknell, I concur with your assessment — a little slow on the uptake indeed.

Big +1 to that. I was “that guy” in high school and college who often had a sound system worth more than my car at the time. Have you checked out Bicycle Space’s I Street Social rides? They have a pretty honkin’ audio system.

I pretty much always have beer on board… in one way or another.

That’s Nick Ragbir! He is well known in the bike stereo scene. See the Youtube trailer here:

The bike he actually got there on is just to the right of the frame.
True fact.
