Looks like DC is becoming more responsive to road repair requests. They replied quickly to the first notice I sent, even though they looked at the wrong street. (Maybe because I used a misleading address.) This time, it was a month, which isn’t too bad.

The only other repair request I sent to DC was about 23rd St. NW, in Foggy Bottom. I don’t ride there often, but I passed through there a couple years ago. I noticed several significant potholes and raised bumps in the road. More like a ski moguls course than a road. Since I didn’t ride on the road again for a long time, I forgot about my request. Two years later, I received an email reply about my request. They included the text of my original message, so I saw that the date was two years before. The only explanation I can think of is that there was a larger road renovation project going on there, so they didn’t want to fix the road until major construction work was finished.

Good news! Looks like this is getting fixed. I rode on the cycle track today and the crumbling concrete has been completely removed down to the street bed.

I rushed to this thread as soon as I got home but you beat me to spreading the good news. I guess I’ll just have to share in its joyousness.

I rode past the Treasury Dept. today for the first time in a couple weeks. Wow. They completely removed all of the torn-up and crumbling concrete and replaced it with a nice section of smooth, new asphalt. I’m impressed.

Don’t worry, they’ll park a bus in it soon enough.
