L Street bike lane blocked, sort of

At 15th St. Someone either decided to park in the left turn lane or the new-looking car broke down. Actually the car is in the crosswalk. Cars cannot turn left because of the car. So other drivers in the turn lane are turning back across the cycletrack to the other car lanes, to get around that car.

I can’t fault those drivers because there is no other way to get around the parked car. But some of the drivers are running over the bollards. They are also pulling in front of cyclists in the cycletrack.

Cyclists need to be extra cautious when approaching that intersection, until the car can be towed.

I sent a text to the non-emergency number for DC police. The car is still there.

A co-worker called the non-emergency number. The car is still there. I’ve seen a lot of near misses as drivers move out of the left turn lane and across the cycletrack. Eventually a cyclist is going to get hit.
