Might be worthwhile to provide some text that the hotels can include in their neighborhood awareness about biking and how to use CaBi. While most of the “how to” training would occur at the CaBi stations, you have to provide enough comfort to the visitor that they conclude that approaching the station would be worth their effort. A one pager that contains the CaBi concept and pricing overview, a summary of the trails (verbal and a small map), a listing of LBS for rentals and the websites where the riders can see a bigger map would fit nicely in those hotel amenities notebooks. They would need to be tailored for the location so we might see one for CC, one for Rosslyn and one for Ballston.

ACC’s thoughts on her experiences in Miami might be a touchstone. Is that information easily available in Arlington?

YES! Arlington Transportation Partners, provides consulting services to businesses, including hotels. Here’s a tidbit on what they do with hotels:

“We work with all Arlington hotels to make sure you have the transportation information you will need to help guests, including educating staff about all of the local transportation options, transportation brochures, and much more! We also have employee services that include the implementation of transit benefits, commuting information to make their daily commutes easier, and ongoing support in both areas to ensure all are knowledgeable about local commuting options.”

On top of that they also provide brochure services which provides hotels with pamphlets on metro, bus, and bike! They also have the option of purchasing a large information display which not only holds the brochures, but has a localized map with public transportation information on the map. The inclusion of bike facilities on the neighborhood map made it hard to follow (there were too many colors) so the map offers a localized view of the neighborhood and the bike map sitting in the brochure holder will fill in the gaps.
