When the elevation map looks like a wild fire and the cue sheets require a stenographer I think the reality is loud and clear! I might try this in sections at first Pete, thanks for sharing!
Probably wise to ease your way into it. That’s what I did.
My training for Kill Bill V10 has been on two levels. Certainly training the legs to climb is one very important part. The other part… only slightly less important… is training the mind to remember and navigate a route that complex. I passed the final test this morning. I knew I needed to clean up the plot I posted above… there were a few issues with it that needed to be fixed. I managed to completely re-enter the route in RideWithGPS from memory. The link to the improved route is below. I made one tiny adjustment that added .2 mile, very little altitude gain, but concentrated all of the climbing into a much shorter, steeper section. Just one of the little things I do to show my love for those riding Kill Bill.

ParticipantCan you just tell us what the alteration was since I am working on coverting the cue sheet into a Garmin course?

Sure!
Mile 42.8 used to just turn right and go up Nelly Custis. On the new version, there’s a quick right (North Nelson), right (25th), right (N. Monroe) and doubling back on Nelly Custis. Right on Lorcom, Right on North Oakland St. then to go up to turn left on Nelly Custis.
It is a silly little change, but it gets a little different altitude gain.

ParticipantOh yeah, change it at a point four miles before where I’ve gotten on my plotting. :p

ParticipantAw, the course doesn’t include the 11th St. hill between Westover Park and Patrick Henry (http://app.strava.com/segments/3160057). That’s my least favorite hill in all of Arlington…not because it’s particularly hard, but because I have to ride up it at the end of every ride. It’s like one last kick in the teeth after a tough day. Anyway, if the route came up Longfellow instead of Ohio, I’d set up a feed station for everyone, but alas…

Just come along instead! It’ll be fun! Or… something. Possibly fun!

I’m considering it. I could do 10k of climbing spread over a few long climbs, but I don’t know if I have the mental strength to deal with 100 miles of Arlington hills. That said, the route is never more than a few miles from my house, so bailing would be pretty easy.

I added it in.
Thanks for letting me know about it. The patch plot has us going in the wrong direction on it, but I’ll make sure to get it right when leading.

I think the ease of bailing would make it even tougher mentally.

I don’t think anyone has completed the ride on their first attempt. Think of this as the beginning of a future quest.

Or beers (not filled with dirt) on Montana at miles 68 and 69?

We’re riding it April 28th if you want to give that a go. Anyone interested, please talk to me. I won’t try to talk you out of it, but I will give you a realistic view of what to expect.
Rock on!
Pete
Hey Pete —
Is it okay if I pass this along to a friend? He is in the final stages of training for some crazy Bike Tour of Colorado thing in June and is hitting every hill he can find. Thanks in advance.
