Pollution that’s seen in the stream, ongoing spills and the act of dumping into a stream or storm drain should be reported to the Emergency Communications Center at 703-558-2222. The Fire Department will investigate the issue.

I was biking home from Reston Town Center in Fairfax County and smelled natural gas. It was extremely strong, not just a wiff. I called the Police Non Emergency number and they apparently sent firetrucks immediately (I heard them as I biked away). Not sure what happened. I suspect a malfunction of the gas pipeline that was nearby.

My point is that people on bikes are particularly good at this sort of thing. We cover many miles and smells are quite apparent to someone on a bike.

The MVT smells like crap near the Gravelly Point parking lot. Who do I call?
