Dunno, just took a walk down to Starbucks, I’ll respectfully submit that your definition of “lovely” may be a bit skewed. If you’re a kite it’s a great day.

Ha – well played Mr. CCrew!

At 6:30 when I left my house it was surprisingly calm, not at all what I expected. By 7 though when I was making it to work the wind was picking up a bit. But overall I was pleasantly surprised. I’ll bet my PM commute will be much different….

The sun was rising, only partly cloudy, and it was 36 degrees. Sounds lovely to me. However, the 15mph tailwind may be skewing my perspective.

Then the 40mph headwind they’re calling for this afternoon will make your life a bundle of happiness :)

If any of you live to make it home tonight with all that wind, I expect detailed flight reports (I mean ride reports…)

    “Brr!”

    That’s my report.

When I left the house, weather.com was reporting a wind from the WSW in the teens. I think I had it at my back so the commute in was fine. Even crossing the Key Bridge was okay. The wind is expected from the same direction tonight, so should be interesting. It looks as though it is supposed to diminish a bit after dark, and I am perpetually on the late shift, so I’m going with that glass half full optimism.

Not bad coming from the NE of DC. Head/cross wind wasn’t too bad, and it didn’t freeze in our area, so the bridges and puddles weren’t frozen up.

Wind from the west between 18 and 21 mph with 36 mph gusts…sounds like perfect weather to extend the end-of-week commute up the towpath to Great Falls and back.

I really hope it’s super windy this afternoon, as I’m towing the kid trailer after dropping a kid off at school on the way to work. Pennsylvania Avenue is like a giant wind tunnel. I swear there are huge fans up near the White House, just blowing towards the Capitol.

Can we double count our mileage into the wind? ;). (Although I guess that would mean that we would have to halve it the other way.)

Traveling dead west this morning was an exercise in cold and futility. My thermometer said mid 30s so I didn’t think I’d need the balaclava. This was a mistake. What a miserable ride in this morning – straight headwind the whole way. I’d better get a good tailwind on the way home or I’m officially on a break from mother nature.

I put on my neck gaiter but I didn’t notice anything too much actually riding ESE. I left much later than usual though (8:30am) so only the traffic in DC threatened to upset my ride. We’ll see how it is on the way home.

I am trying to relish in my joy from this morning by not thinking about that. It’s out of the west 21 gusting 37 at DCA right now….
