I can vouch for both Kona (I have a Major Jake) and Bikenetic (they are my usual bike maintenance stop). You can’t go wrong.

Not only should you buy it, you should ride it home the long way.

Subby just wanted to rub it in that he has a new bike, again.

There’s a guy on my commute that has a Kona Dew, with a rohloff internal geared hub and salsa open bar handlebar. Its awesome, it looks like a cross between a big fat tire beach cruiser and a mountain bike.

W&OD to Gallows to my fave route south by Mosaic and around the hospital? Thus avoiding the eevil (to me, at least) Annandale Rd route? ;) I could go for that.

at bikenetics, this weekend, assuming they have one the correct size in stock (yes I will call ahead)?

And with the “10-25% off 2013 stock” sign in the window, you might even get a great deal!

pro tip: Dominion Wine & Beer is right across the street. Your local bike shops always appreciate a little extra love.

Hey, I can’t see that purdy bike with that arm in the way. Was it part of the deal?

If you saw the whole thing your eyeballs would probably melt a la Raiders of the Lost Ark. Think of the middle aged arm as a courtesy obstruction.

That’s the one. Pick up the CCT at King Arthur and you can get off at the new sidewalks on LRT.

sadly I am pretty sure the 2013 Dews are sold out – we were discussing a 2014. Though if they have a 2013 Dew Plus at 25% off, that would work, I guess.

down Holly to King Arthur? I was thinking east of the beltway on Gallows then down Aston toward Lafayette village – I have never ridden on Holly, sounds like an idea. And avoids the eevil choice on Gallows – riding in nassty Gallows or riding the narrow sidewalk.

I can vouch for Bikenetic. They are great, and Jan is cheerful, personable, and knowledgeable. I bought a Jamis touring bike from them this summer and they just put fenders on my commuter bike.

Your way would work, but you’re trying to make your long way shorter, and I can’t abide that. Yeah, Holly to King Arthur has a lot of nice downhill that you’ll enjoy.

Just another +1 for Bikenetic, Jan and his crew, and Kona. I have the impression Bikenetic have a particularly good relationship with Kona, which is I one reason I went with that combination even though I’ve never really liked my Jake aesthetically.
