Generally regulations for parks will say that the park hours are the posted hours….. however those hours are subject to change subject at the discretion of the management.

What the law says is what the law said. If the law says the park is closed, its closed.

I don’t know what the law is. I usually don’t ride past the closed gates.

When the gate is shut, I usually ride the Ohio Drive circuit instead. It goes from the closed gate on the east side of Hains Point heading north, turn left on Buckeye Drive and right on Ohio Drive. Go across the tidal basin bridge and up past the FDR Memorial. I turn around just before getting to Independence Avenue and return to the start. It is a nice circuit that has a little rise over the bridge.

    Hope that helps a little.

I’ve gone over the curb at the channel side gates fairly consistently for four years and never had anybody say anything. I’ve seen pretty large groups of cyclists massing at the closed gates so I can’t believe the PP is unaware.

They might be more strict about park access the week of the Independence Day fireworks. The route is closed at least for a day or two for the firework preparations and for safety reasons.
