Agreed. My point was just that is good advice, but that it’s incomplete. I think there is a long ways to go with the enforcement side of things in Arlington.

Who cares if it’s good advice if it’s irrelevant to addressing an extant safety issue. E.g., a sign saying “don’t stop in the middle of the crosswalk to tie your shoes” would be good advice but just as much a waste of resources because it does nothing to address an actual problem.

    Yup–agreed. That’s my point too.

I just hope that Bike Arlington, when asked, would respond along the lines of “those signs are aimed at motorists, so they should have messages that are relevant to motorists, like ‘yield to peds in Xwalk'”. If Bike Arlington responds “that’s good advice, but…” ACPD will completely tune out everything after “but” and will be able to say “Bike Arlington supports this use of those signs”.

Just speculating, but those signs may be part of the fall Street Smart campaign, which is aimed at pedestrians. http://bestreetsmart.net/

I’m not sure that ACPD would post signs like that for their own campaigns.
