Finally, after a couple of months of me saying “let’s try biking together” I finally got my wife to bike with me (her first time in 10 years, and that last time was on one speeds at Chincoteague.) Practiced in a nearby large empty parking lot, then went to the Cross County Trail, over two hours altogether. She seems to have caught the biking bug.

I find walking around grocery stores and other shoppes with my helmet attached to my bag is usually the best way to introduce people to cycling. People, for reasons lost on me ;), always seem to want to tell me that they should “give cycling a try” when they notice it. I think the extra 150lbs I routine carry around helps break the ice. YMMV, of course.

Same thing happens to me at work. My building is full of people who are definitely going to try riding to work, someday. They’ve all told me on the elevator, right after asking me the standard question (“how long is your ride?”). Someday, one of them will actually do it, maybe.
