It is my privilege to be the first to call Mark Blacknell by his new name, Mr. President. Last evening he became the WABA President of the Board of Directors.

I cannot think of a better person to fill this role. He has made significant contributions to the biking community through his service as a WABA board member, the President of the Arlington Bike Advisory Committee, and a variety of associated committees. He has been a force in the biking community and has demonstrated a commitment to the entire spectrum of people who ride bikes, from commuters, to roadies, to women and families.

I know he will continue to be an effective and skilled advocate on behalf of all people who ride bikes. May I offer you my congratulations, Mr. President, and my support.

Okay, Mark, now you have to post something so we can see what demented title Tim has concocted for you.

Congratulations! An excellent choice by the board.

Now let me just get through this mad rush at work (year end stuff) and then I will hit you with all my suggestions for WABA.:D

Mr. President may not be aware of his new name. It was a joint project. Deals were made.

Henceforth Mr. Blacknell shall be known as: The WABA Poobah.

    I’m so delighted.

Not Grand Poobah? Oh I get it, he needs something to aspire to.

Thank you, Ann – and everyone else – for your kind words and support. I’d say more right now, but I’m off to review the proofs for my official portrait. More soon.

On a somewhat more serious note, this is my introductory post over at the WABA blog. As I note – and everyone already knows – WABA’s doing fantastic work these days. I’ll do my best to build on it.

Oh, look who’s being clever. I’m not sure that someone who rides 200+ miles in a day or 100 miles inside Arlington & Fairfax reaaaally wants to start talking about “over-active” . . .
