It’s lighted – much more fancy than the the black and white sign baiskeli posted.

Me too. Perhaps it’s timed for rush hour – no right on red from 6 am to 9 am or something like that.

P.S. never mind. Now I have to go find a lighted sign on Amazon. Or eBay. I know I can find a lighted Budweiser sign, but that probably won’t do the trick.

    Seriously? Talk about entitled motorists.

No, more complicated than that. I believe it will be on when pedestrians/cyclists have an LPI, off otherwise, but I’m not 100% sure.

Plus it takes time to order and get the sign. Unfortunately, these sorts of things are not on Amazon Prime.

    To the contrary

I have an extra Lite Brite the county can borrow until the sign comes in.

Maybe they’re looking for the one that switches between “YIELD TO PEDS” and “GO AHEAD AND RUN OVER PEDS, CARS ARE WAITING” (per VDOT regs).

Use this sign and spin it. It will mesmerize the motorists and keep them still. (Or this could backfire and they would be mesmerized while continuing to drive through the intersection.)

I wonder if that horse went through the intersection today.

“Horse”? There were about 20 of them! The article says they went over the Key Bridge, so I’m sure that involved the IOD in one way or another.

I ran up against them on M Street, with a whole bunch of cyclists also backed up behind them. I crept along until Wisconsin, then took a left, followed by a right on N and rode like a madman and was able to cut back to M and just beat the rolling roadblock before it got onto Pennsylvania.

I understand rights of assembly or protest or whatever, and I also understand that these guys got all the proper permitting, police escorts, etc. But I do wonder where the limit is. Would DC need to grant the right to do this to everyone who is mad about something or another? Honestly, this being DC, I am sometimes amazed how rarely we do see these sorts of crazy protests.

I took a video of the new traffic signal timing at the intersection. This was middle of the day, not rush hour. Comments welcome.

That “No Turn on Red” sign can’t come soon enough. Its absence completely negates the point of the leading pedestrian interval as demonstrated by that white car’s actions.

Also, that was a little scary to see Rod almost get sent into oblivion by the shuttle bus when he turned around to wave while heading into the crosswalk!
