Justin is the real deal…he has deep experience in any part of bike maintenance/building. Good job addressing an audience of varying skills, everyone took home some very valuable knowledge. To get this type of session for no cost is a testament to Justin’s good stewardship of his talents. Thanks.

    Thanks Justin,

    You rock!

And thanks to the westbound troop on the W&OD in the dark. It was nice to be part of the pack.

Exceedingly bummed that I missed this but didn’t finish working til 7:30. 😡 When are you posting the vids? 😮 Seriously I bet another round of this in DC or MD would be a hit. I can volunteer a space near the SS end of the CCT if needs be and a workbench of generic tools ( nothing bike related but a bench vise & drill press if you really want to do some damage). Glad it went well.

    Sounds like it went well!

I had to stay home the whole day yesterday so I had no chance of making it :(

Yes thanks so much to Justin. He did a phenomenal job with the class. I totally dropped the ball and didn’t take any pictures, very unlike me. That’s proof it was so good because I didn’t stop to take any pictures!

    Thanks again Justin!!

Eager to try out my new found bike-mech skills, I replaced my front and rear gear cables this morning before my commute, cleaned and lubed my chain, and trued my rear wheel. On the ride in I was like,” Man this bike is so much faster, This maintenance was great!, I love my bike, wow, was it really that bad before, I’m flying along, I’m going up hill in that gear! then I look back and realize that I’ve misadjusted the barrel knob on the rear deraileur an entire gear low (5th gear was actually 4th, 7th was 6th. D’oh.

I’m going to have a go at replacing my handlebar this weekend now that my sweet new grips have arrived in the mail, so that could have hilarious consequences. :D

You did all that BEFORE your commute?!? I have a hard enough time squeezing in a bowl of cereal.

    I feel like such a slacker. :p

That sounds like a feature, not a problem ;)

I took my brakes apart and put them back together (with some kind text message guidance from Justin) and I didn’t die or anything!
