What? You don’t want to lock your knees and keel over like a member of the Black Watch? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn95OODZpcI

That’s not a member of the elite Scottish military regiment the Black Watch. According to the title, they are irishmen. If they were Scots, their dress uniforms would most likely be kilts, and if they keeled over it would not be because they locked their knees. It would be because they drank a whole litre of whisky the evening prior*.

Best of luck to the Total200 riders! I have to work this weekend and based on the forecast I do not mind it one bit. With regard to heat, one thing I’ve heard from other long distance riders but not tried yet do is tie an old tube sock to the back of your helmet so that it rests on your upper back, then fill it with ice at rest stops. You could drape it around your neck too I guess. Either way, it’s ice!!

I’m a bit jealous of the t200 riders this weekend since I’m still recovering from the fracture and therefore still off the bike (plus, several weeks since I last rode).

Though, with all of my heat sensitivity and the predicted elevated temperatures, perhaps it’s for the best in my case.
