On Saturday, my husband, son and I went on a ride on the Indian Head Rail Trail in Charles County, MD. This is a relatively new and undiscovered trail. It is very flat and about 13 miles long. We saw wildlife including great blue heron, bald eagles, deer, rabbits, and other birds I couldn’t easily identify. Otherwise, we had the place almost to ourselves so it was very quiet and peaceful.
There is plenty of parking by the Indian Head trail head (about half a mile away). There is very little in the way of food or water so bring your own. There are porta potties at frequent intervals.
A good trail for families, bird watchers or anyone wanting a change of pace.
Liz
