ParticipantIsn’t that really just indicative of an opportunity? If the poor don’t drive and the rich don’t drive, it’s not completely an economic issue, which could be insurmountable without some giant social programs. It’s all about making alternatives more attractive to the giant group of people in the middle. And some of that will just be changing attitudes, which is relatively easy compared to some of the other things.
Certainly we still need more bike infrastructure and more reliable and efficient public transportation, but it certainly suggests there’s low-hanging fruit.

ParticipantThat Corridor of Light installation should really improve things. I’ll have something pretty to look at while I’m lying on someone’s hood.

Cars run over cyclists when they’re lit up, what makes you think the illuminated benches, glowing bike racks, and luminous sculptures will be any different? If history is any indication, they’ll be waiting for your arrival at the ER and already have tickets plastered to them.

This does very little to help address the conflict.
Agreed. This project does much more to address the Marriot Parking Lot conflict than it does the intersection of doom.

How? I thought they rejected the in-only suggestion.

Interesting, thanks. I notice that this has been a paradox for urban living in general for many decades. The rich can afford things like private schools and security to deal with bad schools and crime; the poor have no choice. The middle class left for the suburbs. Of course, that’s finally changing.
