I was a little concerned that the gym at my building would be closed this morning (or would close at noon or something), but thankfully it’s open and will remain accessible to essential employees during the shutdown. A gym closure would’ve made bike commuting during the shutdown a non-starter for me…

Showering is optional if no one is in the office.

My department is only reducing staffing by 25% at any given time, so hygiene will still be a concern…

Yep, same boat. I was in classes all day for the past 2 weeks in Balt., so my miles were low then. I was really looking forward to my daily 30-mile ride this week. Oh well…

That said, I’d be open for a furlough ride, beyond what I did this AM, if any of you in DC are interested.

Yeah, but my German teacher isn’t. Language classes suspended for the duration. Oh yeah, my wife is furloughed and she may have plans that conflict with cycling.

Well…since it looks like the Senate is voting today to reopen through February 8th…today was just a practice for the next one (?)

I just think they wanted to give people a weekend off  maybe they could schedule any future shutdowns to happen on other 60+* days, too?? Hmm???

    Shutdown To End!
Rats, I was hoping for a few days, at least. The House still needs to vote, but they were never the problem.
Maybe we can play this game again in 3 weeks.

I’m beginning to think this whole shutdown thing was a flu-induced fever-dream.
