Fellow BAFSers!
My friend, Cathy, and I will host an Immigrants Heritage ride in Fairfax City on Saturday, February 5! This 12-mile no-drop casual ride begins at Thaiss Park (3401 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031) at 10 AM. The route is at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38331555. The route will include stops to talk about various establishments that were started by immigrants to this country. Towards the end of the route, we will visit Baku Delicious, an Azerbaijani grocery, bakery, and coffee shop. They sell items from Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, and other Eastern European countries. We will spend a little time here to explore the goodies they offer. Bring some cash if you want to take advantage of their 10% cash discount. You can see some pictures from Baku Delicious in Cathy’s Strava file: https://www.strava.com/activities/6558928328. Saba is in the same building if you are interested in Yemeni food.
Thaiss Park has free parking. If you plan to ride your bike to Thaiss Park here is a route from the Vienna Community Center & W&OD Trail – https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38342724. The location of the Vienna Metro Station is also noted on the map if you choose to arrive by metro. Once you arrive at the intersection of Route 50/Arlington Blvd & Blake Lane and Pickett Road, I recommend you use the left crosswalk and just stay on the sidewalk until you arrive at the park on your left. The Vienna Community Center and the Vienna Metro also have free parking.
Please, bring a headlight, taillight, and warm clothes. Our ride is for everyone who is vaccinated. We hope to see you there!
