I passed a bike commuter (female, wearing a sleeveless black shirt, two panniers on rear rack) somewhat aggressively this morning. About a mile later she passed me and made a joke about how I would pass her again in a minute. I wasn’t passing to be macho or a Lancelot, I passed because her fenderless rear wheel was spraying me with dirty water from the trail. So no offense, just trying to stay somewhat clean and dry. I’ll go back to my normal pokey pace tonight.

I sometimes tell people that I’ll see them again in the near future when they pass me. There are parts of the trails where we all go faster or slower than others. Sometimes it is just a form of conversation and not something said with a deeper meaning.

I was just cruising around Hains Pt awhile ago, and a young lady kept passing me and falling back over and over. I didn’t think anything of it. Turns out she was doing intervals, and apologized to me for speeding up and slowing down. Didn’t bother me a bit

Wasn’t me but sounds like me. I usually pass/get passed by people and never see them again, but every once in a while I’ll fall in with someone like that and always feel kinda bad about it. I usually end up ruining my rest intervals b/c I’m trying to stay ahead. Never works.

I sped past a guy this morning whose fender seemed to be consolidating the harmless spray into a veritable geyser of muck and goo. He didn’t seem to care, but he was also wearing knee high socks and Keds.
