ParticipantMy cousin once walked up to their front door to get their autographs. They were very nice and obliging (it helped that she was a cute 9 year old at the time).

ParticipantPart of the joy of being me is that I can be happy, fluffy, helpful and sadistic all at the same time…. and do so while singing really badly. Awesome that I’m infectious.
That gives me some great ideas for the Alpine Gran Fondo this weekend. I wonder how much damage I can do by singing Men Without Hats for the entire 104 miles???
I think I almost caused the entire peloton of TJROW to crash within the first 3 miles of the ride start in Boston by singing “One Million Bottles of Beer on the Wall”.
Love,
Dirt

That depends. Will you be doing their whole catalogue, or just that dancing song?

Tickets still available.

ParticipantHa! I think I saw the same couple! I passed a struggling couple right after the turnoff to Ritchie Rd. and she was having a hard go of it..not like she needed medical attention, but she clearly was over it and was getting off her bike. Given that there was two miles of hard climbing left, that couldn’t have been an enjoyable walk. Honestly, I was glad they didn’t need help, because that would’ve been a tough climb to regain momentum on.

Random fact–many school kids in China know “Yesterday Once More” by heart and it is frequently played in karaoke clubs. That and John Denver’s County Roads song…

BTW, does anyone have a clue who the Carpenters are? There are a few old farts around this forum who haven’t totally lost our memories yet. I got free tickets to a the Carpenters’ concert at the IU Auditorium about 40 years ago.

ParticipantSometimes a song gets stuck in my head during a ride and it’s good, and there are times when I want to find something to run into and I.JUST..WANT…TO….MAKE….IT….STOP! Last weekend’s CWC was mostly good (exception – “Gilligan’s Island” theme while the storm was blowing through Gettysburg). On a C&O trip, the tune that WOULD.NOT.DIE! was a pop remix of “These Boots are Made for Walking” (I could have handled the classic version, but not this). I don’t sing them out loud – air used for singing takes away from air available for pedaling.
I’m saving “Country Roads” for PPTC Back Roads. And C.W. Mcall’s “Convoy” if a pace line I can hang onto forms.

ParticipantSinging out loud always helps me when I get a song stuck in my head and can’t get rid of it. It doesn’t always get rid of it, but at least EVERYONE around me is suffering equally. Somehow suffering is more fun when you’ve got company.
That’s the point of group endurance rides, isn’t it? This just takes it to the next level.

ParticipantSemi-topical… Pandora decided that I needed to listen to “Ice Ice Baby” (in one ear…) while I was on Fairfax Blvd EB on Monday. As usual, someone tried to squish me at the Kirkwood left and I was briefly terrified that the last thing that I’d hear on this mortal coil would be Vanilla Ice… terrifying thought (as well as an amazing demonstration of the brain’s ability to multi-task when under pressure)

ParticipantI have to admit, the song that most followed me on last weekends CWC was “I’m Singing in the Rain” followed closely by “Deadman’s Curve”
