I suck as a forum member these days. Just too many things going on. That said… I do have a new group ride that I’d like to get going each week. It is in sync with some folks’ Friday commute.

    ++++++++++++++

Anyone who knows me well, has figured out that one of my favorite things to do is get a bunch of people from very different circles in my life, mix them together and go for a bike ride. I’ve got lots of friends who work in bike shops. I’ve got lots of friends who are loyal to one or two local bike shops. For lots of good reasons, we never get to ride together. We’re all doing our own shop rides… not anyone else’s.

This ride is to get us all together to enjoy a social ride and some coffee before the shops open. Some folks can join on their ride to work. Some may have the day off and want to join in for the fun.

We’ll start the ride from Bikenetic in Falls Church at 0700. We’ll roll East on the W&OD, take the Custis trail and Roosevelt bridge into DC. We’ll roll through GW to Friday Coffee Club, The Original at ME Swing at 17th and G. NW. We’ll roll out of FCC at 8:45 and head South along the MVT to National Airport. From there we’ll take the W&OD back to Bikenetic.

This is a social ride to just hang out. Take pride in a local bike shop! It can be the shop you own, work for or frequent. It can be a really cool shop that you went to during a road trip. I don’t care what shop… If you’re feeling particularly Kumbaya-esque, plan a jersey swap with someone from another shop. If you need to go incognito, we can arrange a cardboard mustache to act as a disguise.

If that’s your ride corridor and you love a local bike shop…. ANY local bike shop…. Please plan to join us.

    Hugs and kisses,

    Pete

    That was a blast!

Next week is already in the works. Friday Morning, wheels rolling at 7:10am from Tri360. 2121 N. Westmoreland St. Arlington, VA

Same Modus Operandi. We’ll roll down W&OD to Custis… we may have a splinter group head for Friday Coffee Club II at Java Hut in Arlington when we hit Rosslyn. The rest will head to FCC I, then head south on 15th Street, over into Virginia, south on the MVT and back home to Tri 360 a little after 10am.

    See y’all out there.

Alright! I’d like to start these up again, even though we don’t have the furlough as an excuse. I’ve missed the Friday morning rides.

Can I get a shout-out from those who ride from the west? Please answer two questions….

What time do you normally roll out? Roughly where do you start your ride?

My start time on Fridays is flexible… It is my one ride day each week. I usually roll in from the intersection of Virginia Lane and the W&OD. My destination can be Coffee Club I (17th & G NW) or Coffee Club II (Java Hut).

We’ll get this rolling again in the next week or so. If there’s a decent response today, then we’ll give it a go tomorrow.

    Thanks!

    Pete

Hello Pete — I was hoping to return to bike commuting tomorrow now that I’ve more or less recovered from the croup (as diagnosed by my co-worker).

I start in Vienna. I usually start about 7 but could start as early as 6:20. Earlier is doable but requires coordination with the troops here.

Well, you ride right by me as I head to FCCII aroung 7:10, but I’d be happy for an incentive to get out a little earlier and meet you all further to the west.

I usually take off out of the bat-cave just before 7am. Tomorrow I could be talked into a downtown commute.

I pick up the WOD at EFC, normally too late for most of you. But I’ll have a somewhat new (earlier) schedule next week so hopefully I’ll be able to meet up.

    Earlier meaning before noon? :)

It turns out I am not working tomorrow. I do have to depart FCCII by 8:15 though, so depending on what time you start I may meet you for a bit.

Meaning I think I’ll be leaving at 7 instead of 7:30 or 7:45. But maybe at 6:30 on Fridays.

So is this happening? I now don’t have to be home until around 10. Will definitely do FCC. Which one to choose?

Fridays, around 6:45am. Give or take an hour. :D

I start my ride from home, and usually take roads if it’s < 7am, with a bit of the Custis. I can also hit the W&OD at Little Falls. I’m planning to be a FCC I’er tomorrow.
