The underpass from the Mt. Vernon trail under the humpback bridge is open. You can cross under the Parkway, ride the length of the Columbia Island parking lot, take a short trail through the woods and cross the wooden bridge over to the road that skirts the Pentagon parking lot. Turn left there and it takes you to a right turn on the South Parking Connector, up and over to a right turn onto the road that runs straight to Columbia Pike. Or instead of the connector, go straight onto Old Jeff Davis Hwy to Crystal City.
Only the upstream underpass is open now. The other is still under construction.
