We were actively recovering from Rule IX.

Shawn, how do you bike in suit? I would be a disgusting mess by the time I arrived at work. Is there a secret, or does it just require being a bamf?

The secret is cold starting temps and a wicking baselayer. Also, moderate your effort. I’ve only done this once before, just recently on a 20 mile ride. I just took my time and averaged about 12 mph. When I’m regularly commuting to work in my skinsuit, I average closer to 17. It helps that I only have to go about 12 miles and the ride is mostly downhill in the morning.

And thanks, sometimes I do feel like a Banff.

I think the real answer is Dirt did all the work.

We played around with how much power we were putting out. You can really feel when you emphasize power over smoothness when you ride. The bike wobbles a few inches to each side with each pedal stroke. The way to ride a tandem well is to balance power with smoothness.

Sorry, not cold enough for claiming Rule IX.

(Hell, it’s never cold enough around here to claim that rule.)

But we were eating, not riding, so do the “rules” apply? :p

Will anyone be at HDCC around 7/7:30? Or will everyone be at the CX ride?

I’m planning to be there, although I don’t have a good record for making it there before 7:15 – which might be based on certain scones coming out of the oven around 7:20 a.m. ;-). I have several days’ worth of forum and other news to catch up on.

Are people doing Gravelly cross rides on Weds. mornings now? Would HDCC on another day be better during cross season?
