I just rode from L’Enfant Plaza up to Columbia Heights. I wasn’t on the bridge, but it was windier yesterday than it is right now, at least for where I was riding. I’d be more worried about the thunderstorms they said would be tonight but sure look imminent.

Ok, I guess I’ll take the metro then, even though I already ate the afternoon candy bar I can only justify if I’m riding up the Custis.

It was great coming north-north-east earlier this afternoon.

Clear out some space on the crowded train and do jumping jacks, burpees, pull-ups and push-ups on the commute home. That will burn up the candy bar calories.

[No comment on whether this will cause a riot on the crowded Metro train and create unpleasant consequences for you or for others.]

Rode south on MVT around 2:30pm, then north on MVT around 7pm after the rain. The slog north of the airport was a slog both ways. Clearly I had somehow offended the gods.

When I had the wind at my back, it was quite nice, but that was few and far between. I was pretty swiped by the time I got home.

I ate a lot of gravel riding over the 14th St Bridge at 6:45 p.m. last night. If I wanted to waste more time on the internet than I already do and brag about my burliness to my dog, how would I learn what the windspeed was at that time? It sure was windy.

I’ve posted this site before, someone’s fun side project, but it’s really cool!

I keep thinking this thread is going to turn into variations on Your Momma jokes.

20 mph winds this afternoon and low humidity, which presents a fire risk. Hopefully all the smokers exercise appropriate care. (I had just read that smokers cause 90,000 fires in the U.S. every year, from discarding their cigarettes. Just this week, a smoker set off a mulch fire that triggered the fire alarm system at a building in Arlington. Smokers sparked four fires in Fairfax County last week.)

Thunderstorms and moderate wind tomorrow. Then stronger winds again on Saturday. Keep your bike sail attachments ready.
