Holmes Run Trail repairs & closures

I was up this way today and saw no signs of trail closures (other than the fair weather section between Beauregard and Ripley). Maybe this means they’re done?

There are some seconds of the concrete portion with various loose, traction-decreasing debris, but the trail is open.

Here are some photos showing the condition of the trail. As noted above Trail is still closed between Ripley and Beauregard.

The first photo shows a portion of the trail that was repaired and the second photo shows a sandy section of the trail. Use caution when riding through the sand.

I definitely should’ve consulted this font of wisdom BEFORE I went barreling down Holmes Run Trail last night, south of Colombia Pike on my way to Alexandria from Falls Church. Here’s a pic of what I found … be advised, stick to the streets (even though that can be equally treacherous during evening rush hour).

P.S. the green slime below the waterline is super slippery, too!
