ParticipantI love the one at the top of 2 Sisters… just off of Custis.
That’s me taking a Bike Power Nap in the middle of their Halloween display.December 6, 2011 at 7:42 pm #933400rcannon100
ParticipantYeah, I think I know that display. If so, that’s the neighborhood that has some over the top displays.

I’ll hunt them down over the next week or so. If anyone finds some good ones, get me a cross street. I’ll build a route that will fit the appropriate door number.

ParticipantI’d be in for #1! Sounds like fun.
Extra points if your bike is also lit up like Christmas?

ParticipantAs long as it’s the bike and not the rider….

I imagine there are a lot of KFC (Kilowatts for Christ) folks in that neighborhood.
I’ll go find them. That’s an area with a lot of hills though.

ParticipantThere are usually some good displays along Patrick Henry in Arlington between I-66 and Wilson Blvd with bonus of the climb up Patrick Henry. There is one very lit up house on the 8th Pl N cul d’sac just north of Wilson.

ParticipantProbably too far out for most Arlington folks, but there’s a big display at the top of Buckelew near Allan (where the W&OD crosses Shreve Rd)

Participantbikes@vienna is planning a Luminaria ride on Christmas Eve: http://www.bikesatvienna.com/events.html. It’s a short (about 5 miles) ride through Vienna neighborhoods. The streets are lined with luminarias which are bags that contain lights placed along the curb. The ride starts and ends at the shop.

ParticipantSeen today at the Pentagon City mall parking lot. This Santa works in the food court getting his picture taken with the kiddies. His beard is the real thing.

A good friend of mine spends the holiday season being Santa every year. He’s the real deal. Cool to see.

3) Do one between Christmas and New Years so we don’t have to make it home at a reasonable hour because the next day is a work/school day for many.
I’d be up for this! Plus it might help me with the Rapha Holiday 500km Challenge.

ParticipantSince we’re headed out of town to see family next week, our little family (me, husband and one-year-old) were thinking of doing a mini-family-lights ride this Saturday starting around 5:30pm.
This is the route I have so far: http://g.co/maps/qzxg2 (the googlemaps loops starts/ends at Conte’s, but if others want to join, I’d suggest meeting at Clay Park, at 7th St and Highland, so our daughter can play as we gather). I’ve only gotten wind of 4 good houses/blocks to see, so this map basically connects those, while attempting to wind around a bit and avoid any mean up-hills. I think it clocks in at 6 miles. I’m completely open to suggestions.
If anyone wants to join, let me know. We’d love the company, but I know the late notice makes it difficult.
Happy Holidays, all!
