Maybe someone can tell me otherwise, but I don’t think anything special is gained by a spammer by posting messages on the forum? I wonder if some foreigners use forum boards to practice their English?
But there are plenty of general forums where people do ask about and practice English/American. And one of the primary languages in India is English, so it’s not as though there aren’t plenty of English-language websites and forums in India, as well as U.S. forums of general interest. You have to admit that it’s odd for someone to pick out a bike forum when he doesn’t appear to have the least interest in cycling in the D.C./Arlington area or in cycling in general. Even when asked about it, he merely says that he likes driving on Indian highways. I don’t get it.

Honest question: Who would win in a race? Someone riding on a cyclocross bike from India to D.C.? Or the hypothetical CaBi commuter riding from North Baltimore to Old Town Alexandria? Even with the ocean crossings, I do believe that the India-D.C. rider might finish first.
FYI – I’m a big CaBi fan. I suspect that among the forum regulars, I might be one of the most frequent CaBi users. I only point this out in case anyone thinks I’m putting CaBi down. I’m not. Just pointing out that it’s difficult to ride fast on the Bixi bikes (which is actually a good thing).

It’s possible a spammer can go back and make edits to previous posts, perhaps spamming, perhaps gaming google/bing/whatever search results…

If its interactive – there is some play by spammers and fraudsters
By the way, there is this guy in Nigeria who wants to buy a whole bunch of bicycles. He has $40,000 but he needs your help to get it out of the country so that he can set up Nigeria’s first bikeshare company….. etc. etc.

Trick question. The CaBi would not make it through some Baltimore neighborhoods thereby enabling our friend riding along NH11 to win.

ParticipantI took the liberty of mapping out the route from Jaipur to M.E. Swings. in case you’d like to join us at #fridaycoffeeclub some time. It’s 10,233.4 mi. and +424,546 ft. of elevation gain. If you leave now and average 15 mph, riding 12 hours per day, you’ll be just in time for #fridaycoffeeclub on July 26th. ridewithgps is still munching on the route, but as soon as I get the link, I’ll post it up here, although you might need a really big SD Card for the GPX file.

I hope you at least planned a route that circumvents Pakistan!

ParticipantIs that like “All Your Base Are Belong to Us”?
Or “Who is your floor?”
(From the James Bond movie “Diamonds Are Forever” — PG-13 violence in the video clip)
