Headset install – Nylon Crown Race?

    id have a hard time believing that’s right, i doubt nylon would last the installation. got any pics of all the pieces?

    edit: strike all that, a quick google search says nylon is it.

    I see it in the directions, but it is still seems a little wrong. I guess I’ll have to trust it.

    In theory the nylon is just there to align the fork in the bearing. I’m honestly not really thrilled that CC has started using nylon in such high stress areas. Keep an eye on it.

    Hey Pete, do you know if a metal crown race would be compatible with this headset? This is all new territory for me.

    I don’t know. I haven’t used Cane Creek headsets in many years. You’d need to ask a CC dealer.

    is it a cartridge or loose ball headset? if it’s cartridge, then the crown race plays a much less important role than if it were loose ball..with cartridge it really just acts as an interface so the cartridge doesnt slide around on the fork crown.
    i wouldn’t worry about it. let it be and see what happens.
