Heads up before HH!

    Hey everyone!

There are 188 people showing on the Freezing Saddles individual leaderboard. THAT’s GREAT! That means that only two people who are currently assigned to teams haven’t ridden yet this year. And hopefully that means that once y’all find out what teams you’re on, who your team captain is, and get invited to join your team club on Strava, everyone who is currently assigned to a team will officially be on a team. Even if you’re showing on the individual leaderboard, you still have to join your Strava team to have your miles counted for team standings.

If you’re not able to make the HH, I will be publishing a complete roster of everyone playing FS and their team assignments. The first thing you should do is contact your team captain (a few teams have co-captains) and make sure join your Strava team club ASAP.

We’ll give everyone a reasonable time (TBD but days not weeks) to join their Strava team club. If you don’t do that, then you’ll get dropped from your team (and Freezing Saddles) and substituted by someone in the wait list queue.

Assuming we get all 190 people on their respective Strava club teams in short order, I’ll know whether I can create a “Misfit Toys” team from the people in the wait list queue. I can’t promise that I can do that, but I’m hopeful. So if you’re on the wait list http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?14061-Who-is-on-the-wait-list , keep riding! Miles for rides beginning January 1st will count to individual and team standings if you are either substituted in for someone who no-shows/drops out or if I’m able to create another team.

I hate to tell you this, but there are at least two people who show up on the leaderboard who never registered for Freezing Saddles this year (but who are members of the Strava club and have authorized Strava in the past)–Elaine M and Robyne M. We were planning on playing the reindeer games but not the competition. There could be others, as well.

OK. Well we’ll see how many people are playing FS for real after the HH.

That’s not a problem. Those people are “Friends of BAFS.” Once teams are assigned, anyone who is in the Strava club and has authorized Freezing Saddles to read their miles, but who is not on a team, will become a Friend of BAFS. They will be on the site if you click on “People,” then “Friends of BAFS,” but will not be on the leaderboard.

However, I assume you didn’t actually complete the registration form, and thus chuxtr will not have assigned you to a team.

If you didn’t complete the registration form and confirm your email address, you’re not a team and not in the wait list queue.

I didn’t cross-reference all the names on the FS website leaderboard against my official list of riders assigned to teams, so I don’t know how many people on the leaderboard aren’t actually playing. But hopefully there’s a high correlation between the two.
