ParticipantGreat to see everyone who braved today’s freezing weather (oops, rainy weather
). Megabeth, thanks for organizing this and making sure the squall went through before the official start!
I did 21 laps and ended the day with just over 103 miles. See you all for the repeat on January 1st!

ParticipantAdditional kudos to Megabeth and WABA! Great event!
Vicegrip and I rolled out for a few laps before the official start. Looking left across the river there was a strong squall line heading right for us. We both bailed, and headed back counter-race to the shelter of the tents just before it hit.
I left around 1PM, and will be back next year for sure.December 22, 2013 at 10:55 pm #989116hozn
ParticipantI showed up at what i assumed was a fashionably-late 3:45, but I guess that was in fact not fashionably late; it was too late. Enjoyed a couple of laps. Kudos to y’all that did 100 miles of those laps. HainsPoint is pleasant, but … damn!

ParticipantNew member here. Thank you for organizing such a wonderful event for a very good cause.
I biked to the event from Vienna at 8am hoping rain would not start until the afternoon. Despite the wet weather we were in high spirit. It was fun. Unfortunately I had to leave bit early back to Vienna. When I came home and saw “track” on my backside, I wished I had some Ass-Savers.
Here is video clip of the event start.

ParticipantI just joined in for some laps on my way to and from my ride. Very glad I got a fender-ed bike for such days.

Lots of fun on the ride today, until I broke a spoke after about 60 miles (I rode 15 from home to get to the start.)
I wasn’t too terribly sad having a good excuse not to make one more d*** loop, I must say
I also broke a spoke yesterday! I think it happened somewhere around mile 20, but I managed to finish out the last 80 without too much trouble after it was tied around another spoke.

I left around 1PM, and will be back next year for sure. That was funny. Looking over and thinking “Cool weather today, that looks just like a squall line” then realizing that it was a squall line. Rain coat in back pack, back pack under tent = 180 deg turn and 2XFPT watts.

Cookies are fuel in my book.
Thanks to Revolution for the bike support. Got a flat on the Potomac side and once again the backpack with what I needed was back at camp. Walk of shame and a tube from Revolution rather than my patched back up and I back on track in short order.

ParticipantMegabeth,
There were a couple of photographers out taking lots of pictures. Are these going to be posted somewhere?

ParticipantSome have been posting links and pics on the Facebook event page.
I am awaiting some others and will try to do a comprehensive post once I hear from everyone. I haven’t poked anyone yet for them considering the holidays and random work week. (In fact, we have pics in our camera I haven’t had a chance to pull off and cull through yet…)

ParticipantThe winning numbers from the drawing are posted on the official Hains Point 100 Facebook page!
The prizes that aren’t claimed will magically turn into raffle prizes at a Women & Bicycles Happy Hour that will be scheduled for some time in January. Thanks again!
