Potentially… Usually I try to do a mountain bike ride, but if the trails are too wet, I may be up for a gravel grinder (although, I do not have CX bike, I will have to use my hard tail, so I may be a bit slower than everyone else…).

Meet me at the Starbucks here:

We’ll do a quick Coffee Club and then take a spin around the lake.

Damn son. That aint Cancun. That’s Playa del Carmen! Mucha mejor! (I am bilingual in bad gramhar). Swim across the pond to Cozumel. There is a scuba park there; probably too touristy for your skills. Tulum is just a potatos throw down yonder. Prob another excellent place to dive. When I was a wee lad, we use ta sleep in hammocks along the beach right about here. http://goo.gl/maps/NCsJj It’s where I proposed to The Wife on a full moon night along the beach (she werent impressed; she said if I hadnt proposed to her that trip she was going to belt me). Got to ride out a hurricane in a shack in a place called Capitan Lafitte – a good part of our roof was gone by morning.Fun.

I am thinking a more appropriate place and time to meet is under the Chain Bridge on the C&O around 9 AM.

My starting idea for a route:

Ends with a few Haines loops if that will still be a variable this year.

I am thinking of doing a long-ish Jan 2 ride. Probably ~100 miles, starting early — like 6am, back by noon — if anyone is interested in doing a longer ride but can’t ride on the 1st.

Edit: and I was thinking of a similar route. Definitely to include Berryville Rd.

The correct time for meeting under the chain bridge is 3am

My hope for such distance is gone. I messed up my wrist in the Bikenetic CX race and it is still questionable. Still planning an early start and that basic route if anyone is interested.

I’m trying to get some riders to go with me to Baltimore for Paul Palermo Memorial Ride. I think if we leave from Hains Point at 11:30 we can get to Bishop Square Park by 3:30 (45 miles). If you want to come along but need more time, we can leave earlier. The ride back will be in the dark so bring lights.

I just saw the postings about that ride and was thinking of going. Is it really possible to get there leaving at 11:30? Also what sort of time do you think we’ll get home? Only have about 3 hours of headlights.

No it’s not possible. I thought it was a little closer. 51 miles. Experience tells me it’s best to allow for ten miles per hour average speed. It sounds slow, it is slow but stuff happens. That means we should leave at 10:30. The ride home may take 5 hours. I’m having a little knee pain and second thoughts about this ride.

As much as I want to go to this memorial ride, it is just not in the cards. Still doing my plan of the C&O but starting from the Chain Bridge earlier at 8:00

If you do it, I will join you.
