Registration is now open for the Great Pumpkin Ride. It’s October 26th this year and starts in Warrenton with 32, 53 and 68 mile routes. There’s a stop at Old Bust Head. We’ve stopped for a drink/dinner in Warrenton afterwards the past two years. Registrants get a long sleeve tech shirt that makes for a great base layer in winter. All proceeds benefit the Fauquier Trails Coalition.

This is a fun ride with all kinds of pumpkin goodies along the way. Wearing costumes is highly encouraged and we now have a forum tradition of doing group costumes. Past years have been gnomes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Super Mario Brothers. These costumes have made quite an impression with other participants.

There has been talk of doing Sesame Street as the group costume this year. The pantheon of characters is at: https://www.ranker.com/list/all-sesame-street-characters/reference

Oh, just to put it out there ~ On account of my having basically not ridden my bike at all this year, I signed up for and plan to do the short route. I had more fun last year when we did the short route and spent more time eating and drinking because of the (turns out not so) bad weather. Does it still count as a single ride if you spend 5 or 6 hours at the brewery pit stop?

I also signed up for the shorter route for the same reason.

I’m OK with a shorter route – this hasn’t been a big riding year for me either.

    Registered, and costume started.

If you don’t feel like creating a costume, this pink jersey could be an option. :D

Unfortunately I wont fit into an infant/toddler costume. If I could, I’d totally buy that one :)

Steve is right. After all, it has been done before.

Not sure how they filmed that, but an amazing clip for sure!

I’m probably gonna be Oscar the Grouch. Still awaiting word if Samantha is going to be my Grungetta or if she has to work.

I saw a cookie monster adult onesie at Target yesterday and seriously considered buying it since it’s AMAZING… Sadly I think it’ll be a little too hot to bike in. I found an alternate cookie monster dress on Amazon that may do the trick.

Gary from NOVA-CBG wears a Cookie Monster onesie for their Alexandria Halloween ride. Definitely warm inside.

I turned one of my helmets into The Count’s head. Rest of costume coming together.
