My costume arrived in the mail this past week. I’m hoping for cold weather or I am going to be the grossest, sweatiest, TMNT of all time.

ParticipantI have my Rocksteady costume, which actually feels pretty comfortable, but is easy to put on backwards. The mask is not as open as the amazon pic, so will need to do some cutting to make it more breathable. My helmet does fit with the mask on, which is an added bonus.

ParticipantMy costume is still a “gleam in the cosplayer’s eye,” in so far as I rode to JoAnn Fabrics and Goodwill to get what I need for it.
The next step from there is unpacking and figuring out where the sewing machine goes.
The next step after that is reminding myself I only think I know how to sew…

ParticipantCostume came in! And appears to mostly fit. I’m saying a prayer it’s only around 50-60 degrees out though. Not sure it’s very breathable.
I still need a toy camcorder though to complete the look…

ParticipantMy mantra for today:
“The ride is in 6 days and you don’t have a costume.”
“Stop biking around, the ride is in 6 days and you don’t have a costume.”
“Stop doing chores and adult nonsense, the ride is in 6 days and you don’t have a costume.”
“Coffee up! The ride is in 6 days and you don’t have a costume.”The downside of DIY…

ParticipantAnd today…

Slacker! My costume is kick-ass.
With a surprise (you’ll have to wait and see).

ParticipantHas anyone seen a download-able route other than the pdf that’s on their site?

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve turned my pre-made costume into a DIY project. I’m going to be spending the next few evenings taking apart my turtle costume and re-sewing the relevant bits onto a lighter weight base layer.

I seem to remember them providing a gpx a few days before the ride last year. If not, here’s the long route: https://www.strava.com/activities/752744996

ParticipantThe costume has occupied my bandwidth for this ride, I almost forgot about the RIDE part. Can I hitch a ride with someone? I have no clue where this place is. Pumpkin cookie offer still stands.

Thanks for the note of solidarity! I was planning on making real progress yesterday before work had the following conversation with me:
Work: Yeeeah, we’re gunna need you to work laaate tonight… Also, we’re going to need you to come in for a telecon with Osaka at 6am.”
Kitty:I got two pieces of fabric cut. 4 days until the ride and I don’t have a costume yet.

I wouldn’t rely on your old strava route (I did it last year too) because I read somewhere they changed the route a bit this year. I made a ridewithgps map from their cue sheet but maybe don’t rely on that either.
