Had a great ride home, even with a fender mishap. Turning back onto the trail by East Falls Church something caught in my new front fender and it folded in thirds under the fork, seizing the wheel. The good news is it popped back into shape when I took it off.

Lol. I avoided the custis today. Figured it would be crowded. The weather doesn’t get any better than this around here.

What a morning! Got up early to take advantage of the Arlington loop instead of making the point-to-point commute. Totally worth it to ride along the river and see DC at dawn. More of these days please…

I was shocked by how few people were on the Custis yesterday in the 5:30pm-6pm range. I felt bad for everyone not out there. Then happy because it was practically ALL MINE.

I went through there a bit later and had the same reaction. My day at work was high on the suck-o-meter, so I was grumpy and annoyed at having to get kitted up to go home. But once I was out there, I realized that every single time I push myself to get out on the bike, I’m never sorry. And they had plain caramel apples (i.e. sans peanuts) at the store, which is rare find, so my day ended on a much better note :)

I was on the W&OD, Custis, MVT and up through NW DC mid afternoon and all of the above were pretty well packed. I left the house at about 3pm and with various stops along the way got to my downtown destination about 6 and had hundreds of good friends to ride with along the way.

Coming home at 9pm was a little more lonely. Lovely, lovely night though.

But state code does not require pants?

Not sure how much I trust that sign anyways. It was photographed in The District, which doesn’t actually have a state code. I wore shirt and shoes anyways…. just in case.
