I actually don’t, but if you’re looking for a place to park and ride, I’ve never seen the parking lot at the LBJ Marina close to full, and it’s a short bike ride away.

That is an interesting idea. We are thinking about having our juniors CX practice at Gravelly point this weekend, maybe we can meet at the marina and ride over as a group.

I ride through there most Saturdays between 8:00 – 9:00 and around that time the parking is pretty quite. I wouldn’t expect it to get much busier by 10:00, but don’t quote me on that.

There is usually parking at Daingerfield Island / Washington sailing marina, further south along the Mount Vernon Trail, at any time of the day.

In addition to the paved parking areas, near the trail and at the marina, there is a large gravel over-flow lot at that location.

I’ve never had a problem parking my bike at Gravelly, so I’m not sure what the question is. ;)

Anyone know how crowded the parking lot at Gravelly Point gets on Saturday mornings? Thinking sometime between 9:30 and 10:00AM

That’s about when it fills up. I’ve taken a boat out of there once or twice and it’s a fight for the last few parking spots pretty much after 10. It varies a lot with the weather.

The suggested alternatives are good, especially if you don’t really need to be there to say launch a boat. I don’t even find the lot all that convenient as I live south of OT Alexandria so it’s annoying to go loop back around up the GWMP.

I’ve never seen parking problems except on the most spectacular afternoons in the summer and/or when there is an organized game on the fields. Even then, people just park on the grass and NPS doesn’t do anything about it.

Crystal City still has free weekend garage parking, if you don’t necessarily need to be right at Gravelly.
